Specifics to Saturday's Opening Day at the Jeffrey Lamarand Splash Field:
Bounce houses will be set up on grassy area south of the splash pad.
Food will be set up just inside of the gate, under the awning of the fireplace/patio area
Balloons will be placed throughout
Best parking directly in front of splash zone and Sheridan Center; entry through Pardee Road (west) entrance to Heritage Park. Parking is free
Event opens to public/starts at noon.
Crowd Control Procedures-
First 100 kids will receive a gold wristband, this will entitle them to the food and the first turns at the splash pad and playground
Air horn will be blown to signal it is time to exit the area for the next group. We will sound the horn every 25 minutes.
Second group of 100 kids will receive a white wristband, this will entitle them to the remaining food and second turn at the splash pad and playground
After the first 200 children area admitted-
Staff will be handing out passes 100 at a time that have set times on them, starting with 1 p.m.
Once the first 100 passes are given out we will start handing out the 1:30 p.m. passes, and so forth
The last set of 100 timed passes will be marked for 4:30 p.m.
Participants will be encouraged to use the bounce houses, face painting, Petting Farm and playground area at Pavilion B while they wait for their turn.
The staff will also be handing out Sky Zone and Zap Zone coupons as well as recreation information (rec center classes, Taylor Northwest Pool, summer camp etc.).
On a related note: Northwest Pool, located in Northwest Park on the north end of the City off Van Born Road, will also open this weekend. Hours are noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It, like the splash pad, will continue to open on Saturdays and Sundays through the end of the school year, when regular hours will be put into place.
