Taylor Police help children celebrate Easter, despite the pandemic

Taylor Police handed out Easter bags, including some great candy courtesy of Macy’s, over the holiday weekend. Several cities in the region celebrated some form of socially distanced Easter-related activities, despite the “Stay Home, Stay Safe, Stay Healthy” order from the governor’s office.

“During a crisis like this, you have to look for opportunities to make someone smile,” Mayor Rick Sollars said. “We were prepared to do events like our annual Bunny Trail in Heritage Park, and our Bunny Luncheon at the Petting Farm, but those had to be canceled. So we put our heads together and tried our best to come up with some alternatives. It was fantastic that Macy’s helped out.”

As anyone can see by the photos, lucky children across Taylor were happy to receive the bags.

In addition, Easter baskets prepared for the Bunny Trail event were given out with carryout orders at the Lakes of Taylor’s Lake House Bar & Grille on Friday. The Lake House offers curbside carryout service Mondays through Fridays, and its “family meal” packages are becoming the talk of the town. Regularly priced at just $25 for meals that feed four to six people, in addition Taylor residents receive 20 percent off.

The family meals offered include roasted for fried chicken, lasagna, build your own taco tray, smoke pulled pork and (Fridays only) fish and chips. In addition, a family meal order also gets you a free full-size pizza. The Lake House also offers regular menu items.
